Glass & Lampwork
These necklaces are hand knot by me with waxed thread, they are both beautiful and durable. They are stiff when they are newly knotted due to the wax, but the more you use them, the softer they become! If you want to wash them: remove the pendant and rinse them with lukewarm water and soap/bile soap.
Sari silk necklaces
Sari silk is warm in the winter and cool in summer. The necklaces are made from the surplus silk from the Indian sari industry. The fabric is torn into long strips by women and sewn together and braided and sold as art material. In this way, the women receive an income and actively contribute to the family's livelihood. I sew the braided strips together and use memorywire on which I thread African waistbeads. Nothing reproduces color as beautifully as silk!
I find my inspiration everywhere, but mostly from people and cultures I meet when I travel. The impressions are then mixed in my head and come out as something completely new. I call this mix of cultural ideas "Urban Tribe"!
